About

Niall O'Sullivan

BACP-Registered Psychotherapist

I hold an MSc in Psychodynamic Counselling and Psychotherapy from Birkbeck, University of London, and I'm registered with the BACP. I work with individual adults in person in Cork (and occasionally in Kenmare), and online with clients worldwide — including UK clients who may be more used to reaching me on a UK-format number, which is why my contact details use the international +353 format throughout this site.

My work draws on a psychodynamic foundation — paying close attention to how past experience and unconscious patterns shape present difficulties — while staying responsive to what each person actually needs from the room, across a wide range of presenting issues from anxiety and depression to trauma, grief, addiction, and questions of identity.

Before moving into private practice, I worked across a variety of psychiatric and addiction treatment inpatient facilities, and my ongoing caseload continues to include complex presentations — psychosis, borderline personality disorder, and dual diagnosis among them — alongside less outwardly severe presentations like anxiety, depression, and grief.

Alongside psychotherapy, I also work as a certified behavioural health coach, with experience in recovery coaching, neurodiversity coaching, and executive coaching — a distinct, more structured offering for people who want goal-focused support rather than depth clinical work.

How I Work

What sessions actually look like

Sessions run for 50 minutes. We begin with a free 30-minute call to check the fit — therapist, approach, and practicalities — before any paid assessment begins. From there, sessions are available in person in Cork, or online for clients anywhere.
