Couples Therapy

For couples who keep having the same arguments, feel like they've drifted apart, or find it hard to talk about what really matters — in person in Cork, or online.

My work with couples has two parts.

Understanding what's going on underneath

First, I offer a space where we can look more deeply at what may be going on for each of you, and within the relationship, that is causing conflict and getting in the way of healthy communication. Arguments about money, chores, or time often carry something older underneath, and until that's understood, the same conflict tends to come back in a different form.

Practical skills for communicating

Alongside that, I'll give you both practical skills to express your feelings, communicate more openly, and handle conflict when it arises — so that what you work on in sessions carries into the rest of the week.

What couples often bring

The same argument on repeat Communication breaking down Feeling distant or disconnected Infidelity or breaches of trust Sexual difficulties or a loss of intimacy Fertility, miscarriage or losing a child Big life changes Deciding whether to stay together

How it works

Sessions are with both partners together, either in person in Cork or Kenmare, or online over secure video. It starts with a free introductory call, so you can both get a sense of whether the fit feels right before anything is booked.

Couples therapy isn't the right starting point where there is violence, intimidation, or controlling behaviour in the relationship. If that's part of what's happening, individual support is usually safer, and I'm happy to talk that through confidentially. Women's Aid (1800 341 900) and Men's Aid (01 554 3811) also offer free, confidential support in Ireland.
